We are a network of environmental activists/advocates, ocean scientists, film makers, journalists, ocean athletes, environmental NGO's, elected officials, bureaucrats and just about anyone else who has something to say on the topic of the oceans. We are a source of accurate information, not hesitating to call out those who want to spin inaccuracies or personal agendae.
Our oceans are in trouble. It's no stretch to assume that means life as we know it is in trouble. Change needs to happen, NOW! Thankfully, there are people all over the world who are passionate about the issues affecting our oceans. They are well intentioned, well educated, caring people. They are working hard. They are doing good things. And we will be spending a lot of time with them. But there are also people out there; decision makers who are contributing to the problem, actually aggravating the problem…every day; people with motivations and agendas that serve only their selfish interests like corporate and NGO executives whose actions put profits (and fundraising) above environmental responsibility and human rights and governmental officials (both elected and appointed) protecting industries and companies and enabling lobbyists that/who are political allies and supporters. We will be spending a bit of time with/on them as well. This is not just another catchy repository of ocean centric issues. We are the source for all things ocean by casting our net broadly and exposing both the good and the bad in the world of ocean stewardship and taking a no holds barred approach while we're at it. Our "cast of characters" will include environmental activists, elected officials, governmental paper pushers, corporate executives and whistleblowers, fishermen, ocean athletes, ocean scientists and NGO executives.
Certainly, we'll share our opinions but only on an equal footing with those around the world; some of whom we'll agree with and others with whom we will aggressively disagree. Our core focus will be telling the stories in a different way so that everyone can understand (i) how dire the circumstances are, (ii) the incredible work being done by young and old to reverse ocean degradation, (iii) the role that corporate and governmental miscreants around the world play, (iv) the impact that human behavior relating to the oceans (either directly or indirectly) is having on personal health and finances and (v) the reality that human, corporate and governmental behavior must be challenged to deliver a reversal in the degradation of our oceans.
We are the catalyst, the urgent wake-up call, the call to action working to leave our readers, viewers and followers with an intuitive inclination to effect change. We look forward to hearing your reactions/feedback/opinions.
